She's Got Somethin' to Sing About!

Dear Reader,

I feel it only fair to share with you the amazing happenings going on in our home lately. Since none of you are here to see these marvelous moments, you must settle for reading about them instead.

For the past couple of weeks, Baby Girl (born on Christmas Eve) has been blessing me with the BIGGEST and BRIGHTEST smiles!!! When we sit down together, or even at the sound of my voice, this precious little life emotes joy and excitement. Her tiny lips separate into a wide grin, displaying her pure elation.

As if this wasn't enough to satisfy any adoring mother, Baby Girl has begun to talk. Not with words, but with her own special baby speech. When speaking to Baby Girl, she looks directly into my eyes, and talks back in a combination of unique baby sounds. When I begin to speak to Baby Girl, she responds with her own dialogue, making great conversation! Her phonetic utterances are so sophisticated, it's as if she's speaking her own language.

It is clear to me that Baby Girl is obviously saying something! I can't wait to understand her lovely words. As these conversations continue day to day I find myself being completely satisfied being her Mommy. What more could I ever want than a small beautiful life lovingly looking up at me with an abundance of smiles and plenty of thoughts to communicate? Boy, have I got it made!

And can you believe the story gets even better?...
Just yesterday, Dada (aka. Super Hubby) was leading a family song session in the family room as I tidied up the kitchen finishing dishes and wiping down counters. As the children danced and sang, Baby Girl lay on the rug in front of Dada absorbing the sights and sounds around her. Before long, Superhero Son came bounding into the kitchen, "Mama!" he yelled. "Baby Girl is singing! Come and hear!" I quickly hung my dishtowel and went to hear.

Just as Superhero Son had said, baby Girl was truly singing to Dada's song. Her faint voice sweetly rose and fell with the pitches of the music. Although this 2-month old child cannot yet lift her head, sit up, hold an object in her hand, or rollover, she can sing!

I am in awe of this wonderful creation. It is only the hand of the Lord who could possibly create such a child. Our Heavenly Father has lovingly placed within Baby Girl words to speak and a song to sing. After only several weeks in the world, Baby Girl is beginning to reveal some of the remarkable characteristics that make her unique. I am so honored to nurture and love Baby Girl, and will do all that I can to see her fulfill God's purposes. For I know that they are surely great...at only 2 months of age, Baby Girl has somethin' to sing about!

Celebrating the life, words, and songs within our Baby Girl,

Sarah D.
